Shearings’ £1 deposit returns ‘to drum up bookings’

Coach tours specialist Shearings has launched a £1 deposit campaign to encourage bookings during September and October.

The promotion will enable clients to secure any booking and give them more time to plan and save for their holiday.

Once the £1 per person deposit is paid, there is nothing else to pay until 28 days before departure for self-drive hotel breaks, and 42 days before departure for coach holidays and river cruises.

Ashley Dellow, Shearings’ head of retail sales, said: “September and October are traditionally quieter holiday booking periods; everyone is just back from their summer holidays and thinking ahead to Christmas.

“The £1 pp deposit promotion should help agents drum up 2023 bookings.

“Customers don’t have to worry about payments for a long time and having the booking held secures not just the holiday but also the price. Booking early also usually secures first choice destination and dates.”

Escorted coach holidays cost from £229, with self-drive hotel breaks leading in at £89.

In the event of a customer holiday cancellation, the usual full deposit payment will be due – these are £75 for coach holidays, £25 for self-drive holidays and £200 for river cruise holidays.
