The Travel Network Group shares money saving tips with members

The Travel Network Group is giving its members tips on how to make worthwhile savings during the ongoing financial uncertainty.

The consortium, which represents 1,150 independent travel businesses, has shared a range of tips from energy saving and negotiation tactics to office, marketing and employer expenses.

They include negotiating better deals with banks, landlords and utility suppliers, purchasing essential office items in bulk for better rates and going paperless where possible.

In addition the consortium has given advice to agents on making partnerships with other local businesses and taking on apprenticeships to help with employer costs.

TTNG chief executive Gary Lewis said: “The support the government has initially outlined is a great start, but many of our members are concerned about what happens when the support dries up, which could be in just a few months’ time.

“Our members, and the travel industry as a whole, are incredibly resilient, as proven over the last couple of years, and we want to do our part to ensure this continues. To help counter rising costs we’ve collated some helpful advice which members can use within their businesses to avoid unnecessary spending, and aims to ease the pressure slightly from the hefty bills that many are facing as winter approaches.”

One of the tips is advising members to partner with local businesses to advertise in their shops and companies to save on radio and newspaper advertising and reach customers in the area faster.

The consortium is also suggesting its travel agents use social media platforms to reach potential clients. TTNG’s internal platform The Hub offers training on social media marketing and has marketing assets which can be personalised to agents’ businesses.
