Viva Cruises’ second ship to enter service in April next year

Viva Cruises’ second new-build ship will be christened in its homeport of Dusseldorf on March 23, 2023.

Viva Two will then depart on its maiden voyage from Frankfurt to Passau on April 1.

The sister ship to Viva One has capacity for 190 passengers in 95 cabins, which will make it the line’s flagship vessel.

Viva Cruises described Viva Two’s exhaust system as “the most significant technical innovation” on board, featuring a catalytic converter and a particle filter, and said it will enable the vessel to meet EU standards.

Chief operating officer Andrea Kruse said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome nationally and internationally invited guests and business partners to our second major christening to celebrate our second new-build ship Viva Two together with them and then to send her off on her first voyage.”

Arno Reitsma, managing director  of Viva Cruises and parent company Scylla AG, said: “Of course, we will also be using this day to present the new ship to our guests for the first time and to introduce them to our innovative concept in architecture and design as well as innovations in the technical area.”

He added: “Our new-build ship, Viva Two, will make river cruising even more attractive.”

Retisma praised the ship’s exhaust system, which he described as a “big step towards more sustainability”.

“With our second ship, we are once again focusing on sustainable construction and on moving forward with a heavy focus on the environment and the current times,” he said.
