North Wales-based tour operator Adventure Tours UK has brought out a carbon report outlining its commitment to the environment and processes it has in place to stick to its promise.
The report was launched to coincide with World Environment Day on June 5.
It shows the company’s average carbon footprint per holidaymakers was 96kg carbon dioxide equivalent (C02e) for 2020-2021.
The report includes a pledge to reduce its footprint in future, with a target of 92kg C02e for 2021-2022, by, for example, working with local partners and offering better carbon travel choices to clients.
Already the company says it never knowingly uses single-use plastic on its trips – aluminium bottles are given to guests on arrival – and it works with local, independently-owned businesses to support the rural communities where its trips take place.
All tours are carbon labelled to allow holidaymakers to make informed choices about their travel.
Its head offices are paperless and its accommodation and catering partners are local companies which use local produce, organically produced where possible.
The report states: “We’re in a climate crisis and not taking action isn’t an option.”
The operator, founded by Claire Copeman (pictured), offers active adventures across the UK including small group tours, self-guided and self-drive tours, tailormade groups, family breaks and corporate trips. Activities featured range from hiking, biking and yoga to paddle boarding and surfing.
