Club Med cancels all departures to France up to January 2

Club Med has cancelled all its departures from the UK to France until and including January 2 following news of the country’s temporary travel ban.

France is set to ban travel to and from the UK without “compelling reasons” from Saturday morning (December 18) amid fears about the spread of the Omicron variant.

The tour operator said it was now contacting all customers with holidays booked to offer them credit vouchers and allowing them to rebook another holiday free of charge in the next 12 months or receive a full refund within 14 days.

UK and northern Europe managing director Estelle Giraudeau said: “In light of the new travel restrictions from France being introduced on Saturday, December 18, we are saddened to be cancelling all holidays for departure from the UK to France until and including January 2, 2022.

“We are contacting all of our customers who have a holiday booked with us during this time in order of the nearest departure date to offer credit vouchers protecting their money and giving them the right to either rebook another holiday free of charge for a new departure date up to 12 months after the original date of travel or to receive a full refund within 14 days.

“Customers can also move their bookings to our resorts in St. Moritz and Pragelato depending on availability.”

The operator said it remained hopeful the restrictions would only be short-term and that British travellers would be able to return to the French ski slopes later in the winter season.
