Destination management company Discova has added Cuba to its portfolio in the Americas.
Simon Lindsay, regional manager for the Americas, said the DMC’s offering would be “very different” to what operators in the region currently offered.
Discova, which offers tailored B2B in-destination services to tour operators and travel agents, is already “established” in Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic as well as 11 other countries globally.
Cuba is Discova’s first new destination this year and the DMC plans to add two more by the end of 2025.
Lindsay said: “I lived and worked in Cuba for three years, so I already knew a lot about the destination, how special it is, and that it’s unique to what you can find elsewhere on this side of the world.
“Our offerings will be very different to those of the current operators, as they only have access to what is available on the publicly owned market.
“We will be able to supply both public and private-owned products, simultaneously providing unique villas and properties that aren’t available to the mass market, as well as private touring and transportation options.”
Commenting on the expansion, sales director Andrew Turner said: “Discova has big ambitions to grow significantly over the next few years and this is an exciting destination to kick-off our post-pandemic expansion.
“We have listened to our partners and know Cuba’s reputation and demand will help them grow.
“We’re confident we have the experience to transfer our global values and standards to create experience-rich holidays in this unique destination.”
