Destination management company Discova has acquired Grasshopper Adventures, a bike tours operator offering trips in Asia, North America and Australia.
Founded in Bangkok in 2004, the operator specialises in multi-day adventures with a sustainable focus.
During the pandemic, founder and chief executive Adam Platt-Hepworth expanded operations into the US and Australia, capitalising on domestic travel trends and a rise in demand for outdoor, active experiences.
Suyin Lee, Discover managing director, said: “There continues to be growing demand for active experiences in the family and active travel segments.
“Grasshopper’s strong reputation of being a quality and premium operator and their focus on safety and sustainability made them our first choice when seeking an extension to our growing family.
“We believe this move will reinforce our position as a truly immersive and responsible global DMC and we can’t wait to differentiate our offering for our clients with Grasshopper’s exceptional, specialised packages.”
Platt-Hepworth will remain as chief of Grasshopper Adventures, as well as taking on the role of active travel general manager for Discova.
He said: “This allows Grasshopper Adventures to supercharge our post-Covid revival and to provide our guests with the very best on-tour support during what continues to be a complex time to travel.”
Discova is owned by Flight Centre Travel Group and operates in 14 countries across Asia Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean.
