The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel will open at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in late 2021, with a host of technology to create the experience of “a galaxy far, far away”.
Holidaymakers will be able to book two-night stays at the hotel which promises “an all-immersive experience”.
Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, said arrivals will enter a launch pod that will simulate travelling into space and then boarding the Halcyon star cruiser.
Cabins have windows with ‘space views’ and will sleep up to five guests, as there are bunk beds, like the sleeping quarters for Chewbacca.
Families can train with light sabres; operate the controls on the space cruiser’s bridge; and visit the planet of Batuu, in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section of the theme park.
Reports say that Disney has been issued with three patents, revealing how new technology will create key aspects of the onboard experience.
One patent can produce hologram-type images to interact with guests and another can create a new kind of drone show.
