Brittany Ferries has resumed a fast-ferry cross-Channel service for summer school holiday periods.
Condor Liberation, which carries 850 passengers and 235 cars, is operating on weekends between Portsmouth and Cherbourg.
The fast service will complement conventional ferries on routes to Cherbourg from Portsmouth and Poole, giving the ability for passengers to ‘mix and match’ routes.
Condor Liberation will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during school holiday periods from May 26 to June 4 and from July 14 until September 3.
The catamaran crosses the channel at speeds of up to 48 miles per hour making it the fastest ferry currently sailing the English Channel, according to the company.
Brittany Ferries chief executive Christophe Mathieu said “We’re delighted to bring even more choice and flexibility for our customers crossing the western Channel this summer.
“These fast sailings will complement our conventional cruise-ferry services operated by Barfleur on the Poole-Cherbourg route, and our overnight sailings from Portsmouth to Cherbourg with our latest ships Galicia and Salamanca.
“Across our route network this summer customers will now be able to choose from up to 130 departures a week.”
