Icon of the Seas breaks booking record for Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean International has claimed its single largest booking day in its 53-year history when new ship Icon of the Seas went on sale.

Sales for the 7,600-passenger megaship opened on Wednesday, less than a week after the company unveiled details of its family-friendly features across eight zones on board.

The vessel will be based in Miami running seven-night Caribbean itineraries from January 2024.

Each cruise will visit Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, and a range of destinations such as Cozumel, Mexico; Philipsburg, St Maarten and Roatan, Honduras.

Royal Caribbean International chief executive Michael Bayley said: “The enthusiasm and excitement for Icon are undeniable in more ways than one.

“The incredible response we have received from our loyal guests, vacationers new to cruising, crew members and travel partners continues to come in, and this is just the beginning.

“We can’t wait to share more of what Icon has in store in the coming months.”
