Oceania Cruises is preparing for the christening of new ship Vista in Malta on May 8 after taking delivery of the vessel.
The first in a new Allura class, the 1,200-passenger vessel was handed over at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa on Monday (May 1).
The 67,000-ton, 791-foot-long ship claims to offer the most spacious standard cabins at sea, together with three new dining concepts and a “market-leading” service ratio of two staff members for every three passengers.
Only a few cabins remain available for the inaugural summer season in the Mediterranean, according to the line.

Vista will then sail to Canada and New England before running a series of winter itineraries in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.
The luxury line’s president Frank Del Rio said: “Today we usher in a new era for Oceania Cruises with the delivery of Vista.
“We could not have built such an exceptional ship without the close partnership enjoyed with Fincantieri. We thank each and every person who had a hand in bringing her to life. From the smallest of design details to the largest per capita galley at sea, Vista is a marvel that will be enjoyed by guests for decades to come.”
On board features include 11 dining venues and new Broadway-style productions.
The ship is due to be named by godmother, Italian-American chef, author, restaurateur and Emmy award-winning food personality Giada De Laurentiis, in Valletta.
Allura, the second ship in the new class, is due to join the fleet in 2025.
