Royal Caribbean International drops pre-cruise testing

Royal Caribbean International has become the latest line to relax Covid-19 testing rules for passengers.

The decision to accept all guests, regardless of vaccination status, was made as travel restrictions around the world continue to ease following the pandemic.

However, some destinations still require pre-cruise testing such as departures from Australia and sailings from the US with stops in Colombia, Haiti or Honduras.

The company said the change to its protocols, “further simplifying the experience for its guests”, had been made from Wednesday (November 2).

A statement added: “The cruise line’s additional layers of health and safety measures exceed other vacation experiences, including the routine monitoring and vaccination of all crew members and keeping them up to date with boosters when they are eligible, enhanced testing and treatment capabilities in our onboard medical facilities, and more.”

Holland America Line removed the need for pre-cruise testing last week.
