Scenic Eclipse II leaves shipyard ahead of maiden voyage

New luxury yacht Scenic Eclipse II is preparing to make its debut after departing from its shipyard in Croatia before Easter.

The near-identical sister ship to Scenic Eclipse is making its way to Lisbon on a journey of 2,163 nautical miles before accepting its first passengers on Thursday (April 13) for its maiden voyage.

The 228-passenger ‘discovery ship’ operated by Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours is due to be named in Malaga on June 3 by NASA astronaut and scientist Dr Kathy Sullivan.

The vessel’s first cruise is an 11-day itinerary from the Portuguese capital to Barcelona.

The new ship will join Scenic Eclipse sailing itineraries taking in the Mediterranean, Scotland, the Americas, the Caribbean and both polar regions.

Next year, Scenic Eclipse II will visit Polynesia, Indonesia and Australia, where Scenic was founded 38 years ago.
