A warning of “severe flooding” across parts of Italy has been issued by the Foreign Office.
The updated travel advice came as Storm Boris struck the Emilia-Romanga region after causing extensive damage due to flooding across central and eastern Europe.
Amid evacuations from the north-eastern area of Italy, the Foreign Office said: “Severe flooding is currently affecting the region of Emilia-Romagna.
“There can be risks around riverbanks, green areas affected by flooding and stagnant water.
“The rail services between Faenza and Forli and Porto Maggiore and Ravenna are suspended.
“Check with your tour operator or accommodation provider before you travel and follow the instructions of local authorities.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced €10 billion of EU funding for affected countries.
Von der Leyen made the announcement after meeting the leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria to discuss aid for the flood-hit region.
She said: “These are extraordinary times and extraordinary times need extraordinary measures.
“At first sight, €10 billion could be mobilised from the cohesion funds for the countries that are affected. This is now an emergency reaction.”
