Switzerland bans use of NHS app as Covid status

Switzerland has announced it is to prohibit use of the UK’s NHS Covid App as vaccination certification.

After October 24, foreign vaccination certificates, including the NHS app, will no longer be valid for access to events or facilities requiring proof of Covid vaccination status.

From October 25 onwards, only Swiss Covid certificates or an EU Digital Covid Certificate will be accepted as proof required for entry to such events or facilities.

The UK’s Foreign Office updated its travel advice this afternoon to reflect the change.

Swiss authorities have announced that third country citizens arriving from countries outside the EU/Schengen Area can now apply for a Swiss Covid-19 Certificate.

In order to be eligible, applicants must prove they have been immunised against the virus with one of the vaccines approved for use by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) – which are AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson.
