The Personal Travel Agents ‘vital’ to Malta’s pandemic recovery

Malta Tourism Authority’s chairman has expressed his appreciation of The Personal Travel Agents’ homeworkers, saying they play a “vital role” in the country’s post-pandemic recovery.

Dr Gavin Gulia shared his backing of the trade at the tenth annual conference for The Midcounties Co-operative’s homeworking business, which was held at the Dolmen Hotel Malta between October 17-20.

Gulia welcomed agents to the island before telling them they are integral to the country’s post-Covid tourism recovery.

His comments were echoed by Clayton Bartolo, minister of tourism for VisitMalta, who said: “Hosting The Personal Travel Agents’ conference on the Maltese Islands was an absolute honour for VisitMalta.

“Travel agents are an integral part of our strategy within the UK, and with recent research showing that more consumers are relying on travel agents for bookings to Malta, rather than booking direct, this reaffirms our focus on this segment of the market.”

Malta will offer increased connectivity from the UK for summer 2023, with the aim of attracting travellers who “respect the unique culture and landscapes of Malta and neighbouring islands”.

Key focuses will be on active travellers, curious travellers and those interested in gastronomy.
