Northeast agency chain Dawson & Sanderson has relocated its North Shields store, with a refurbishment that is a “blueprint” for future branch refits.
The agency has been in the town for more than 45 years, building a “very loyal” customer base but recognised it needed a move and redesign.
Donna Jobling, regional manager at Dawson & Sanderson, told Travel Weekly: “The existing store was situated in a secondary site and, with the closure of many well-known stores around us, the footfall has continuously decreased over the past couple of years.
“An opportunity came up for a unit on the main shopping street in the town which we couldn’t let pass.
“We have held opening events inviting existing customers along and they have been delighted to see the contemporary design, relaxed seating area and open-plan spacious look.”
Mark Murphy, head of design and marketing, added: “We took this opportunity to develop an exciting new concept for our new North Shields store, featuring a modern and minimal aesthetic to inspire customers to explore the world.”
Judith Alderson, commercial director, commented: “The new branch’s look and feel really show our investment and commitment to the high street.
“The new design will form the blueprint for all our branch refurbs and, when the time is right, any new store openings in the future.”
Dawson & Sanderson has 20 high street branches in the north of England and employs more than 200 staff in retail travel, foreign exchange and corporate travel.
