Cruise popularity in UK soars

THE NUMBER of UK cruise passengers increased by 12.5% last year to 859,631, according to figures from the Passenger Shipping Association.

PSAdirector Bill Gibbons said:”Cruise holidays have quadrupled in popularity over the past decade and more British people now take a cruise than in any other nationality in the world apart from the Americans.”

The launch of the figures coincides with the unveiling of the PSA’s on-line Cruise Information Service at www.cruiseinformationservice.co.uk. The site gives information on all sectors of the cruise market and links to its 33 cruise members’ sites.
