Universal gets interactive with Men in Black theme park ride

UNIVERSAL Studios Florida is launching what it claims is the world’s first fully interactive theme park ride, based on the hit 1997 film Men in Black.

Opening in spring, Men in Black: Alien Attack will allow guests in each of the ride’s 44 cars to compete against one another.

The ride is based on a70, 000sq ft New York street set. Guests score points by shooting at 120 different animatronic aliens with laser guns while the aliens shoot back.

Each of the attraction’s vehicles operates independently and on-board computers will add up the score for each and determine one of 12 different outcomes for the ride accordingly.

The attraction has an hourly capacity of 2,200 people.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, the newest theme park at the Escape resort, is adding two new rides this summer aimed at younger visitors.

The Flying Unicorn is a child-sized roller coaster providing a gentle journey through a mystical forest; while Storm Force is an indoor spinning ride featuring a sound and light show.
