Egypt and South Africa
Longshot expands into new markets for 2001
Report by STEVE JONES
GOLF specialist Longshot Holidays has introduced Egypt and South Africa to its 2001 programme after investment in the sport from both countries.Product manager Sean Noble said the expansion will also encourage customers to look outside core golfing destinations Spain and Portugal.
He added they will appeal to golfers looking for attractions and sights away from the course.
“Egypt in particular will suit adventurous golfers who are interested in the broader attractions of a destination,” said Noble.
Cairo, Luxor and the Red Sea are featured in Egypt with six courses available. Prices start from £529 per person for seven nights at the New Winter Palace in Luxor.
In South Africa, 12 courses are featured – five in Cape Town, five in Natal and two in Sun City. Packages start at £1,175 per person for seven nights combining Cape Town and George.
Also new to the programme is Tuscany with five courses based around Florence.
Key resorts have also been expanded with courses available to the east of Faro for the first time. New courses include the Vilamoura Millennium and Benamore in Tavira. Longshot has introduced a golf school in Portugal run by Tiger Woods’ coach Butch Harmon.
