Site automatically offers add-ons

A shopping system that prompts customers to buy additional travel products has been developed by cheapestflights.co.uk.

Customers simply input their travel requirements and select a flight from the options offered. If they are interested in the flight, they can add it to a personalised page where they can create their own travel package.

When they add the flight to their page, the system automatically quotes prices for car rental over the relevant period. This quote can then be added to the page and will be followed by quotes for accommodation, airport parking, insurance and airport hotels. The completed page can be stored for 48 hours before a booking is finalised.

Marketing director Andy Speight said: “Customers can buy on-line or e-mail the page to cheapestflights.co.uk and buy through an agent.”

n Cheapestflights.co.uk has dropped plans to introduce WAP technology to its Web site due to lack of customer interest. Speight said just 100,000 WAP phones have been sold in the UK. “We will spend the £50,000 saved investing in digital TV,” he added.
