Evans backs holiday health Internet site
FORMER Going Places deputy managing director Paul Evans is backing a new Web site that gives medical advice to holidaymakers.Evans, currently on gardening leave from the Airtours group before taking up an undisclosed position with rival First Choice, has teamed up with former television doctor James Harris to work on www.24drtravel.com.
Holidaymakers can pay for medical advice before they travel to a destination and order sterilisation packs, vitamins and pills they may need while they are away.
Evans claimed the site would also benefit insurance companies and tour operators. “It will save insurance companies money on claims because people will be better prepared before they go away and they will be less likely to make frequent visits to the doctor while on holiday, which are charged to the insurance company,” he said.
“Operators can also work with us to offer their holidaymakers an improved customer service.”
Evans said he had been working on the site for several weeks but refused to disclose whether he had invested in the company or was a shareholder.
