n Virgin Trains took 700 rail-appointed agents to the recent V2000 festival in Staffordshire and came up with a novel way of relaxing any retailers who got a bit twitchy about proposed changes to Virgin’s commission structure.A trendy Oxygen bar took agents towards a state of calm with 94% pure air pumped up their nostrils. The bar’s expecting a bulk order from British Airways.n Has former American Airlines chairman Bob Crandall lost his powers of persuasion? Crandall is chairman of the board of advisors of Milepoint, which lets frequent flyers convert miles and points into an on-line currency called Milepoint Money. So far, six US airlines have signed up, but American isn’t one of them.
n Irish specialist Drive Ireland has rebranded with a new logo and very nice it looks, too (Travel Weekly August 28). But why keep the name Drive when that’s not all you can do?The company’s name and strapline is:Drive Ireland – by air, by sea, by the specialists. Are we missing something here?
