NEWS IN BRIEF
* Seafrance to decide on second ferry option
SeaFrance will decide by the end of the year whether to order a second new ferry for the Dover-Calais route. One new roll-on, roll-off ferry is already under construction in Finland and scheduled for delivery next September and the ferry operator has an option for a second. The new ferry will be the biggest ro-ro on short-sea routes, with capacity for 1,900 passenger and 700 cars. It will cut crossing time by 30 minutes to just over an hour.
* P&0 stena highlights savings on board
P&O Stena Line has launched a campaign to highlight the savings available by shopping on board to encourage more people to use its Dover to Calais service. The company made a £10 million profit in the second quarter, down from £26.5 million at the same time last year before duty-free was abolished.
