What exactly did you say it was called?

TOP prize for the daftest sounding holiday destinations of the month must go to the operator Gran Dorado following the announcement of its latest offerings to the UK market (Travel Weekly September 18).

Cutting Edge used its best investigative powers to find a British equivalent to the newly arrived Dutch holiday villages Het Vennebos, Ooghduyne and Landgoed’t Loo but failed miserably.

Barry Island and Minehead sound dull in comparison while Bwlch and Westward Ho come nowhere close.

There again if it draws in the crowds, albeit out of “that can’t be right” curiosity, the likes of Butlins, Pontins and Centre Parcs might just want tosit up and take notice of their competitors across the North Sea.

It’s all in a name after all.
