Swiss Travel Service targets alternative regions for 2001

Swiss Travel Service is focusing on promoting the lesser known regions of Switzerland in its 2001 programme.

Brand manager Ron Hehir predicted that bookings to Ticino, near the Italian border, should see a 50% increase with farmhouse stays near Lake Constance also expecting strong growth.

“Switzerland is know for the Bernese Oberland but there is so much more. By promoting these areas we can bring new customers to the market.”

Prices start at £517 for a family of five staying for seven nights in Signau, nearly 20 miles from Berne.

New is the Venice-Simplon-Orient Express with three trips available.

The four-night Grand Tour starts in Venice, stops in Lucerne for two nights and ends in London. It costs £1,659.
