GDS supplier brings together all products under Sabre eVoya service
Sabre introduces new Web system for agents
Report by LEE WINTER
SABREhas unveiled a new Internet service for agents under the umbrella name Sabre eVoya.
The system brings together all services currently available through agents’ fixed data lines.
The global distribution system supplier is in the process of sending agents a CD-ROM containing Web versions of booking platforms Planet Sabre, Turbo Sabre and Sabre for Windows.
This will allow agents to make bookings on-line when eVoya goes live at the end of next month. It is working on a method that will allow agents to get into its inventories directly through its site – sabre.com. This is set to be available in spring next year.
For the first time, retailers will be able to access all the booking platforms and services such as the e-mail holiday itinerary service Virtually There.
They will also be able to access selected sites for destinations, weather and travel information.
In addition, agents will have the facility to contact Sabre direct through an on-line helpdesk.
Sabre senior vice-president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Chris Jaegar said: “Our focus is on streamlining our product range and investing in technology to better serve customers.
“The tools in Sabre eVoya will enable our customers to succeed and grow in this fast-changing environment – with minimal impact on business.”
Sabre e-Voya will be rolled out gradually over the coming months. Upgrades expected to be added to the eVoya system early next year include virtual classrooms where Sabre instructors give training advice on-line.
Another initiative will allow agents to pick and choose content from booking platforms to suit their needs. For example, they will be able to book rail travel through one platform and flights through another if they choose.
Sabre is looking at introducing a new pricing structure for the Internet services.
