Choice Hotels Scandinavia has formed a new operating company called Choice Hotels Finland OY. The move follows the signing of five hotel franchises in five cities in Finland. The hotels add 468 rooms to Choice Hotels Scandinavia’s portfolio. The franchise agreement will take effect on November 1 and rebranding of the hotels will start immediately.

Marston Hotels has bought the Winchester Royal, formerly known as the Royal Hotel at Winchester. The three-star hotel is the group’s second in Hampshire and complements the Hampshire Centrecourt in Basingstoke. The Winchester Royal offers 75 bedrooms and five conference/meeting rooms, as well as a conservatory restaurant, garden bar and several lounges. Located only five minutes from junction nine of the M3, the Winchester Royal attracts business and local customers, and is also geared towards tourists wishing to visit local attractions such as Winchester Cathedral.
