New regions raise their profile at WTM

&#42 Guatemala will have its biggest ever presence at Earl’s Court following aninitiative to encourageprivate companies toattend international exhibitions. Twentycompanies will be joining the tourist board, 16 of which are newcomers to World Travel Market.

Brazil

Brazil is putting the spotlight on its northeast region at this year’s show after news that Airtours and Unijet will launch charter flights to San Salvador next spring.

The tourist office is hoping to announce new flights between Brazil and Europe, plus further investment in its tourism infrastructure, during the event.

The Brazilian delegation will be led by the minister of sport and tourism Carlos Melles.

There will be an opportunity for the travel trade to meet the heads of tourism from the various states at an all-day seminar on November 17. It will be held at the Department of Trade and Industry Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London, starting at 8.45am.

Argentina: aims to promote new regional appeal at this year’s show

Argentina

Argentina will be promoted as the next new golfing destination. The Argentina Secretaria de Turismo has produced leaflets giving information on the country’s courses. These will be available at the show, together with a video, which will be screened during the event.

The destination is also keen to push its more traditional sports, including polo, skiing and fly-fishing. Literature on all these activities will also be available.

There will be a strong delegation from Buenos Aires, and from the mountain region of Mendoza, which is popular for skiing and soft-adventure activities, Cordoba, and Salta in the north, of the country are also represented.

&#42 Agents’ incentives:all-inclusive operatorSuperClubs will launch anincentive package for agents at WTM, where it will also promote its newest property, the Breezes Costa do Sauipe in Bahia, Brazil.

Mexico

Mexico will be focusing on incentive travel at this year’s event following a large increase in the number of quality hotels due to open across the country.

Hotel groups such as Four Seasons, Hilton, Ritz-Carlton, Fairmont, Rosewood and Renaissance are all building new properties in Mexico in the near future

The destination will be bringing a strong delegation to World Travel Market including the heads of regional governments for the first time.

Regions that will be making their debut at the show include Campeche, Tabasco and Baja California South.

Time Out

&#42 SUNSETHOUR: the Belize Tourism Board will serve Belizean drinks and snacks during the CaribbeanSunset Hour from 5pm-7pm on November 13. There will be live entertainment on its stand, situated in the Caribbean VillageExhibition area.
