Greece and the islands accounted for 16% of UKtravellers in the past 12 months, up 11% on the same period two years ago. The figures were compiled for ABTAfrom a MORIpoll of 963 holidaymakers interviewed in September this year.
* spain’s visitor numbers drop 4% since 1998
Visitors to Spain have dropped 4% over the past two years, according to the MORIpoll. It attracted 42% of UK visitors in the past year, compared to 46% in 1998.
* australia tops popularity stakes in MORI poll
Australia is proving to be the most popular destination. Some 21% said they would choose Australia, 20% said they felt certain they would visit the destination and 48% said they were very or fairly likely to do so.
