GB Airways in talks with Aer Lingus

GBAirways is in discussions with Aer Lingus over plans to codeshare.

The British Airways franchise launched its first codesharing partnership with Oneworld member Iberia Airlines earlier this month.

GB Airways managing director John Patterson said:”I am in talks with Aer Lingus. There are no flights to the Mediterranean from Ireland so a codeshare would be perfect. Aer Lingus is also in the Oneworld alliance so it makes sense.”

The carrier is also exploring the possibility of codesharing with BA subsidiary CityFlyer on routes to Ireland.

Meanwhile, the airline has shed doubt on plans to launch a direct service to Mahon in Minorca. It had planned to codeshare the route with Iberia but the destination has been deemed too seasonal.

GB Airways commercial director Peter Kenworthy said: “But we are not going to offer services if they are summer-only destinations.”
