COSTA Cruises is confident is extension to the Costa
Classica will be finished on time despite delays at the UK ship builders
Cammell Laird, which is carrying out the work.
The extension, being built separately, will be attached to
the ship when it is completed. However Costa has now postponed the arrival of
the ship, sailing from Genoa to the yard, because of the delay.
The construction work will boost passenger capacity from
1,400 to 2,000 and will increase its tonnage by 25,000.
A Costa spokesman said: “We do not plan to cancel any cruise
built, so I am confident this extension will still be finished on time. There
has been a delay with the work and we are currently working towards a suitable
solution with Cammell Laird.”
