THOMAS Cook Holidays managing director Simon Laxton
will head up the new merged operation with British Airways Holidays, it has
been confirmed.
He will become MD of the joint venture once the
European Commission gives approval to the merger. Its decision is expected next
month.
Other members of the new management team have also
been named.
British Airways Holidays head of sales and marketing
Colin Whaley will hold the same positon in the new company with Thomas Cook
Holidays transport and financial manager Nigel Duke becoming head of aviation
and transport.
The merger, which is due to become operational from
April, will provide holidays to more than 400,000 passengers.
Both brands are expected to
be retained.
