Going Places to close 100 shops

GOING Places has revealed plans to close more than 100
shops.

The moves follow a three-month review of the business by new
managing director Dave Harris who wants to revitalise the “tired” network.

In total, 120 high-street branches will close within four to
six months. Staff have already been told.

News of the closure was exclusively revealed by Travel
Weekly on February 12 after a confidential list was leaked to rivals.

In addition to the closures, seven of the multiple’s senior
management team have been axed. Among the high-profile casualties – five of
whom previously worked for Travelworld – are sales director Trevor Davis, head
of retail Mandy Davis and head of sales north Cathy Jackson-Spence.

Others to lose their jobs are business development director
David Sleath, marketing director David Chambers, corporate development director
Tracy Turczak and head of sales south Lee Price.

The new senior management team comprises operations director
Liz Davies, formerly director of operations at Holidayline, finance director
Roy Saunders, head of HR Katy Clough and head of commercial Martin Andrew.
