Winner sees red for auction bid

Northern Travel Trade Ball in Manchester.

Patrick Chong, of Journeys Travel Insurance, paid £850 for the memento.

Meanwhile, all at Backchat hang their head in contrition after hearing some startling news at the ball.

After scoffing at the CD that Holiday Autos UK managing director Tony Seaman put out a few months ago to celebrate his 40th birthday, it seems the former member of 1970s pop sensation Shalamar is being wooed by record companies.

Large wine glass in hand and dickie bow slightly askew, Tony was heard to say he had been approached by a number of music bigwigs who wanted to use some of the tracks he had penned. When tackled on the subject later, a more sober Tony wouldn’t elaborate ‘until there was more concrete interest in the songs’ but Backchat tips its mocking hat in respect. Nice one, Tone.

BACKCHAT would never normally soil these hallowed pages with a picture of a Manchester United shirt, but in this case there is a good cause.

The shirt, signed by Becks and all, was auctioned off in aid of Cancer Research at the Northern Travel Trade Ball in Manchester.

Patrick Chong, of Journeys Travel Insurance, paid £850 for the memento.
