Brymon shakes up services to bolster West Country business

Report by LOUISE LONGMAN

Well received: Coombes claimed Brymon’s new Dublin and revised Corkservices have received a positive response from both customers and travel agents

BRYMON Airways has axed daily services between Belfast and Newcastle and the onward service to Copenhagen to free up aircraft departing from Bristol International Airport.

A spokeswoman for Brymon said the service had been axed because it was an underperforming route. It will cease to operate from May 1.

The wholly owned British Airways subsidiary has also revised its timetable from Bristol in order to appeal to West Country business travellers.

Timetable changes from Bristol to both Dublin and Cork will be introduced from May 1. The new schedule will offer a range of early morning and afternoon outbound flights and a late evening flight on the thrice-daily Dublin service.

The revised timetable will offer daily flights to Dublin at 7am, 3.20pm and 6.45pm. Return flights will leave Dublin at 8.45am, 5pm and 8.25pm.

Brymon services from Bristol to Cork, via Plymouth, have also been revised with daily services leaving Bristol from May 1 at 10.20am and returning from Cork at 12.50pm.

Return fares from Bristol to both Cork and Dublin start at £79 inclusive of taxes, fees and other charges.

The changes will also allow aircraft used on the route to be based in Bristol overnight, which Brymon hopes will improve punctuality.

Brymon Airways general manager commercial Mike Coombes said:”We have been delighted with the response from customers and travel agents since introducing our new services to Dublin and increasing the frequency of flights to Cork earlier in the year.”

Brymon’s services to Ireland are codeshared with Aer Lingus, a BA Oneworld partner, and carry both BA and EI flight prefixes.
