BRITISH
Airways Concorde Alpha Foxtrot has taken off from Heathrow.
The
aircraft is on a test flight to check the effect of safety modifications and no
commercial passengers are on board.
A
spokeswoman for Heathrow said the Concorde took off as planned at 2.20pm
without any problems. It is expected to land later today at RAF Brize Norton in
Oxfordshire.
The fuel
tanks on BA’s Concorde fleet are being fitted with special linings to avoid a
repetition of last year’s incident when an Air France Concorde crashed killing
all 113 people on board.
The
aircraft was taken out of service soon afterwards.
