High flyers: the state highlights adventure activities
Nevada looks beyond desert
THE Nevada Commission on Tourism plans to widen interest in the state beyond Las Vegas with a new adventure guide. The booklet is not due to be published until January, but sample product was on show on the Nevada stand at World Travel Market last week.
“People think of Nevada as a dry desert, but we have lakes and mountains and there are so many activities you can do there,” said international tour and travel manager Carla Fisher. These include bungy jumping, hot-air ballooning, sand boarding, horse riding, skiing, snowmobiling and helicopter trips over the desert.
“Skiing is already popular in the UK market, but we want to connect with operators that might want to offer other activities,” said Fisher. “I think there could be a lot of interest in this concept in the UK.”
