Drop the big boys and move to agent-friendly operators
I refer to Eddie Kyle’s letter (Travel Weekly November 12) regarding Airtours’ direct-sell antics.
A few years ago we used to turn over six-figure sums with Airtours, but I’m delighted to say that in our last financial year we switched 80% of potential Airtours business to more agent-friendly operators.
We learnt to effectively switch-sell to operators that pay us full (and higher) commission on invoice and support us through our agency. My advice to agents who want to enjoy a relatively hassle-free existence, have contented and loyal customers, a supportive operator and make some money is to drop the big boys and let them wallow in their self-made misery.
They are more trouble than they are worth.
