Time to lighten up a bit chaps

I refer to your comments regarding the line-up at this year’s ABTA Convention (Travel Weekly, November 12) and the suggestion that some of the business sessions were lightweight.

Because of the current climate, we all need a bit of light relief and Bob Geldof and Allan Pease provided that, while still making serious points about the way we do business. Who says you have to be a travel veteran to speak with insight about our industry? Sometimes an outside perspective is what we need to challenge practices that have become the accepted norm over the years, but might not actually be the best way of doing things.

Apart from anything, both Geldof and Pease had us roaring with laughter and, at times like these, that has to be a good thing. If you didn’t enjoy it, maybe you should lighten up a bit yourself.
