US CARRIER American Airlines is to shed 7,000 jobs in a bid
to improve the airline’s financial position.
The airline is also to retire its 74 strong fleet of Fokker
100 aircraft and spread the flights more evenly throughout the day so they
operate on a more continuous basis.
In addition the carrier is to cancel new orders for aircraft
where possible.
