Tahiti Tourism has become the first destination to develop a website built on Kiwilogic’s Lingubot technology, allowing it to offer an interactive question-and-answer service.
Launched at World Travel Market, it allows agents and consumers to go on-line and ask a question about the islands rather than having to trawl through FAQ pages.
The site is at ask-tahiti.com, but Tahiti Tourism travel trade director Julian Mills said it will probably be moved to ask-maeva, the Taihitian words for “welcome”.
He said the technology uses words and verbs in questions to filter through the information on the website and produce the answer.
He added: “We have 118 islands and a huge diversity of things to do and places to stay that can’t be covered in a FAQs section. This makes it very easy for agents and consumers to find the information they want quickly.”
