Sue Biggs bows out in Kuoni restructuring – 26 June 2007

Kuoni UK managing director Sue Biggs has stepped down with immediate effect after 25 years with the company.

A successor has yet to be appointed but in the interim period Biggs’ role will be assumed by deputy UK managing director and finance director Mark Norman.

The move comes as the company restructures from a geographical-based business into a ‘business-based organisation’ with three strategic business divisions (SBDs) – Style, Smart and Destinations – headed by Reto Wilhelm, Stefan Leser and Rolf Schafroth respectively.

Kuoni has also founded a new group called Business Unit Spirit to house businesses it sees as having strong growth potential, like Shoestring International.

A spokesperson for Kuoni said Biggs’ departure was “not absolutely linked to the reorganisation” and no other management changes or job losses are being considered.

The spokesperson said: “We’re going through a process of recalibrating the strategy for the business and this is part of that. It’s about adapting the business to meet the requirements of customers and the market, generally, going forward.”

Kuoni UK will be assimilated into the new SBD structure immediately, headed up by Reto Wilhelm, while Kuoni Switzerland will be adapted to fit the format over the next twelve months.

However, Kuoni Switzerland managing director Roberto Luna will report to Stefan Leser with immediate effect.
