RYANAIR is to increase frequencies on its Stansted-Dublin flights in the new year following the withdrawal of rival Aer Lingus from the route.
Services will be increased to 16 a day in January from the current 12.
The improved frequency will be supported by a cut in fares to keep loads high.
Prices will start at £10 return, excluding tax.
The carrier announced the Stansted capacity rise as it revealed an increase in pre-tax profits in the six months to September 30. Profits rose to £34.7m from £29.6m for the same period last year.
Chief executive Michael O’Leary said the airline is planning at least six new, as yet unnamed, routes from the UK to mainland Europe next year.
Ryanair has threatened to continue with expansion plans in Britain at Ireland’s expense, if the Irish government does not ensure its Dublin Airport charges are reduced.
