A free day’s sales training is to be given to one staff member of each of AITO’s specialist travel agency members.
Chairman Barry Moxley, speaking at the AITO Specialist Travel Agents annual domestic conference, said the day-long course is focused on the selling process and how best to convert an enquiry into a sale.
He added: “We did some mystery shopping and it highlighted that the strengths of AITO agents are their product knowledge and questioning skills but the one thing that needs developing is the closing skills which we can help.
“Too often our members are used as an information service by the customer who then goes off and book the holidays elsewhere. If they don’t ask for the business they won’t get it.”
Moxley added the free training days can be organised at one of three different locations in Manchester, London and the Midlands where seminars are due to be held in the spring.
