UK cottage operator Sykes Cottages has seen January bookings jump by almost a third over the same period last year.
The company has reported a 32% increase in domestic holiday bookings so far this month.
The Lake District in particular is proving popular, with bookings up 67% with Wales following closely with a 40% increase.
The self-catering rental business, which manages more than 7,500 properties, has also seen a 71% increase in UK holiday bookings from overseas visitors.
Chief executive Graham Donoghue said: “We’re seeing holidays in the UK fly off the shelf this January with greater demand than ever before.
“Our website has handled over 4.2 million holiday searches since Christmas proving the current strength of the market.
“It’s phenomenal to see how many people are choosing to holiday in the UK rather than go abroad this year.
“This trend is a huge opportunity for our property owners to increase bookings. We’ll be helping them to take full advantage of this surge by continuing to invest significantly in marketing our website.”
