London City operating normally after bomb scare

London City airport reported it was operating normally this morning after an unexploded bomb led to its closure for three hours yesterday.

Flights into London City were diverted to other airports yesterday afternoon and outbound services suspended from 3pm to 6pm. Subsequent departures were delayed.

The World War Two bomb was found in nearby Stratford on Monday, close to the 2012 Olympics site. Airport authorities said they were only made aware of the bomb yesterday.

It is expected to be two or three days before the bomb is made safe. London City was also closed by an unexploded bomb in June 2006.
