United Airlines is adding Washington as its third US destination to be served from Edinburgh.
Daily flights will run next summer using a Boeing 757 complementing a summer seasonal service to Chicago and year round flights to Newark.
The service between Edinburgh and Washington/Dulles will run between May 24 and October 4.
The carrier is extending seasonal services to Chicago from Dublin and to Washington/Dulles from Lisbon with a start date of April 9 until October 26.
The airline’s Atlantic and Pacific sales vice president Marcel Fuchs said: “As we continue growing our global route network, we are offering more choice and convenience to travel to our US hubs and beyond, something our customers have told us they want.
“The new seasonal summer flights offer customers even more opportunities to plan summer travel to the US and connect onwards to more than 100 cities across North America.”
