Intrepid Travel EMEA bookings up 42% in January

A 20% discount campaign helped trigger a boost in January sales for adventure operator Intrepid Travel.

January bookings are up 42% year-on-year for the EMEA region following the discount campaign which ran from January 1 to 9.

January 9 was the biggest sales day that the region has seen with an increase in sales by 26%.

This was replicated in the German and Swiss market where sales increased by 71%.

As a result, Intrepid has reported that January 2018 is already the second biggest sales month of all time.

The company is now running a £1 deposit offer, with agents having until February 16 to confirm bookings.

Marketing director Tom Smith said: “It’s great to see such fantastic numbers so early into the year.

“As people are becoming more and more interested in off-the-beaten-track holidays, they are looking for operators that can offer experience-rich getaways and we’ve seen this reflected in our sales so far.

“As a team, we worked hard to ensure that customers were aware of our 20% saving offer and in turn managed to book thousands of holidays for customers across the region.”

Smith added: “I also want to extend our thanks to agents who have done a terrific job of promoting our sales period and contributing to making this our most successful January sale to date.”
