More protests possible in France on New Year’s Eve

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has warned further protests may take place during New Year’s Eve across France.

The FCO warning for tonight, December 31, relates to the yellow vest (gilets yaunes) movement.

Recent demonstrations in France have led to violence and extensive damage to buildings in Paris and other cities across the country.

Any holidaymakers driving through France have been warned they may experience some delays or road blocks as a result and have been told to drive with caution.

Tourists have been urged to avoid any protest areas and follow the advice of the local authorities.
